IN-DIFFERENCE | design, spatial activism & convivialism

We Will Design is a large experimental laboratory that every year welcomes and promotes projects by designers from all over the world, schools, universities, international institutions and young students.

A path that goes on throughout the year with residencies and international exchanges, where the practices and experiences of design become a tool to read – and sometimes solve – the many contradictions of our present.
A test for projects that see the light and meet the public at the Design Week.

We want to explore, as designers, architects, and citizens, the ability to create different forms of interdependent relationships, considering our behaviors, gestures, feelings and spatiality.

On the occasion of Design Week 2024 BASE opens the doors of its spaces to the construction of a temporary community of designers, architects, artists under 30 who will live and work within the spaces, transformed for the occasion into a laboratory of “convivialism” which invites visitors to reflect on the most innovative practices of coexistence, cohabitation and sharing present at the moment in Europe and their interrelation with the spectres of migration, gender, skills, health, cultural background.

What would it be to transform BASE into a place of political presence, where designers, artists, students inhabit and reinvent space.

While cities produce futuristic and elitist constructions, utopian visions of domesticity survive and autonomous solutions and informal settlements proliferate, in which living becomes an act of resistance and affirmation of human dignity.

We begin to inhabit thoughts and projects and not just more spaces and objects. We inhabit the future, we inhabit disturbance, we inhabit worlds that do not exist, bodies that are collective organisms.
